Green Energy Island in Kamień Śląski
Green Energy Island in Kamień Śląski is unordinary project which since 2019 promotes sustainable approach to energy. Thanks to the application of modern technologies, complex consisting of scientific research institute, Sanatorium Sebastianeum Silesiacum, St. Jacek Sanctuary and palace Odrowążów became a pioneer in field of renewable sources of energy. MEB Group as general contractor took care of the project preparation and comprehensive execution of the investment.
RES hybrid power plant
Green Energy Island consist of photovoltaic systems of total power 943,68 kWp. They're integrated with two energy storages. The first one was installed in 2019 and have the capacity of 837 kWh and power of 300 kVA. It allowed for the storage of surplus energy and its efficient use during periods of increased demand. The work on the expansion of plant has begun in 2022. Plans included increasing the power of PV farm and adding second energy storage which was placed on the Green Island. Due to the expansion of the farm and supplying a second energy storage system, the whole complex has further increased its self-sufficiency.
Wind Energy
Wind turbine supports the system by delivering the energy in favorable atmosphere conditions. As a result, energy production is more sustainable throughout the year.
Heating System
The complex is equipped with terraced heat pumps and solar panels to provide efficient and environmentally friendly heating. These technologies allow for a significant reduction in Co2 emissions and improved energy efficiency.
Charging Stations
Green Energy Island in Kmień Śląski offers charging stations for electric cars which makes that place really attractive for such car users and supports sustainable transport development.
Results and Efficiency
Thanks to the applied technologies the complex is entirely self-sufficient in energy for 9 months. In remaining months RES energy covers 70-80% demand.
Research and Development
Since the establishment of Green Island, numerous scientific studies have been conducted there to optimize energy consumption and test new technologies. Kamień Śląski has become a center for the exchange of knowledge and experience in the field of RES
Importance of the project
Green Energy Island is not only an example of tech progress but also inspiration for other regions in Poland and abroad. The project has won numerous awards, including the title of Modernization of the Year and Construction of the 21st Century, which confirms its importance in promoting renewable energy sources. The Green Island in Kamień Śląski is a model example of how renewable energy sources can be effectively used to acheive energy self-sufficiency, while taking care of the environment and the region's energy future.
